Equine Bodywork for the Discerning Horse Owner

Simple Definitions

Equine Touch is a non-diagnostic, non-invasive, energy and connective soft tissue discipline which works at a complete holistic level; that is, it addresses the equine as a whole without paying any particular attention to any named problem as such.

On a practical level Equine Touch consists of a series of gentle vibrational moves performed over specific points in specific chreographed patterns, some of which may be interspersed with observation periods to allow the equine to recognizes and process the effects of these subtle procedures.

These soft tissue vibrations when performed correctly with the ET move have the effect of releasing spasms, distortions and adhesions in the connective tissue, and smooth muscle of organs. In synergy they stimulate the body's natural inclination towards balance and harmony in its structure and function as well as creating awareness of placement and motion within the equide.

For instance such a soft tissue correction can very quickly restore the compromised saddle area of the horse to its full pain -free-mechanical function or at the very least relieve or reduce the current level of pain giving it a better quality of life.

The Equine Touch Foundation offers two unique, different, yet totally similar in content, interactive routes of training.

1. THE HORSE OWNER/LOVER TRACK, designed for those who's desire is to work on their own horses or those under their care and protection in order to provide them with a better quality of life.

2. THE PRACTITIONER CAREER TRACK, designed for those who wish to make a full or part time career out of working on the horses of others in order to provide them with a better quality of life, and achieve the qualification of Equine Touch Practitioner.

To understand this paradigm one must look at the mission statement of Equine Touch "To Help Horses by Educationg Humans". Not " to educate humans to help horses". Simply put, it means our primary focus and goal was and still is, to help the horse, The practitioner status evolved as result of the success horse owners were having on their own competition horses by using ET. This resulted in them being asked to work on the horses of others, this in turn resulted in the development of Level 3 (Practitioner Level), education being made more robust, standards being inroduced, national accreditation in the UK, ongoing professional education requirements and the formation of IETA.

What this means in practical terms is that the HORSEOWNER who wished to study ET for the benifit of their own horse can progress through the clinic levels all the way, exactly the same as the person on the career route but does not have to complete case studies, sit assessments, sit exams is eligible to join IETA is not compelled to attend the Level 3B Theory clinic, but cannot call themselves an Equine Touch Practitioner©.

For the career minded who is taking the PROFESSIONAL track, they will attend exactly the same clinics in the same order but are required to sit assesments, and prepare case studies between each level, building up a degree of competence and practice to apply to become a practitioner after completing the course and its mandatory requirements.

The syllabus is designed so that any one may change routes mid stream should they wish to do so a simple chat with your instructor or an NCC can lock this in for you. The course is designed to suit your own circumstances, both financial and time wise.
